This year, Sinchao Rice Shoppe expands its presence with a new location at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taichung. Inspired by the elegance of a European estate during the Art Nouveau era while preserving the brand's signature Taiwanese identity, every aspect—from the interior design and culinary creations to the cocktail program—has been thoughtfully crafted exclusively for Taichung. Bathed in natural light and surrounded by greenery, the new space offers a contemporary gathering place where Taiwanese culture meets refined modern aesthetics.

Vintage Glamour Reimagined: A Contemporary Interpretation of Art Deco

Stepping into Sinchao Rice Shoppe Taichung, guests are welcomed into an interior that continues the brand's signature style while drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of Art Deco. Taiwanese visual elements are thoughtfully reinterpreted through a sophisticated East-meets-West design language that reflects the island's unique cultural heritage.

The Taichung location was designed in collaboration with Yizuo Interior Design and Shanmu Design Studio, whose multidisciplinary approach brings together carefully selected materials, colors, and architectural details to create a space unique to the city.

Deep green walls, warm wood grain finishes, and patterned upholstery are complemented by geometric metal and mirrored accents, ash veneer panels, marble textures, handcrafted ceramic mosaics, soaring vaulted ceilings, and generous corridors. Together, these elements create an atmosphere that balances vintage grandeur with contemporary sophistication.

Floral installations curated by Museum of FLOWERS introduce a refined sense of nature throughout the space, enhancing every dining experience with quiet elegance. The featured artwork, created by renowned Taiwanese illustrator Croter (Hung Tien-Hsien), portrays stylish gentlemen and ladies of Taichung gathering to share fine food and drinks, capturing the city's timeless social spirit. In addition to the main dining area, the Taichung restaurant also introduces private dining rooms for the first time, accommodating a wider range of social occasions.

One of the defining features of the Taichung location is its outdoor seating area, envisioned by Taichung-based botanical studio 5PM TWCAUDEX. Rare drought-tolerant plants and lush foliage blend seamlessly beneath abundant natural daylight, transforming the terrace into a tranquil urban oasis with an exotic botanical atmosphere.

Alongside the restaurant's signature favorites, Sinchao Rice Shoppe introduces a selection of dishes created exclusively for Taichung.

The Goose Breast Fried Rice with Bean Sprouts combines the restaurant's celebrated fried rice with the comforting flavors of Taiwanese goose rice. Stir-fried over high heat with diced goose meat, crispy fried shallots, bean sprouts, and Chinese chives, the dish is finished with tender slices of salt-poached goose breast and the restaurant's signature goose oil chili sauce, delivering rich aroma and remarkable depth of flavor.

The Braised Pork with Crispy Soft-Boiled Egg features carefully selected pork belly slow-braised in the house's secret sauce until meltingly tender. Paired with a crispy deep-fried soft-boiled egg, the luscious egg yolk blends beautifully with the savory braised pork, creating an irresistibly indulgent combination.
